Hoo Toons Prototype
The premise of Hoo Toons is that it is a cartoon-centered video viewer especially designed to be viewed on tablets. Hoo Toons was designed with particular traits in mind: easy to view, search, and connect with other users. Our ideal users those between 18 and 35, educated, and computer literate. The bright colors were chosen because they were modern and visually appealing for a website designed to be fun for younger users without being too bright and gaudy.
Should this design be redone? Of course! The general design is basic, but we have tons of websites to view videos and we don't need to waste time redesigning the wheel when we have a perfectly fine template. The blue background is interesting, but it is far too retro to work for a website that is meant to be modern. The orange color definitely works, but it is a bit too contrasting with the blue. But does this mean the entire work is a failure? No, because the basic design is sound and colors can be changed.
This website concept was retooled from a previous design I attempted in college. The premise of the website is that of a cartoon focused media viewer especially designed for tablets. This was not designed with a particular client in mind, but rather on what we found targeted users would like in such a website: easy to view, search, and connect with other users.
