A graduate of Indiana University, I hold a Major in Informatics and a Minor in Creative Writing. They sound like an odd duo, don’t they? Together the disciplines offer more than just an insight into design and writing; be it designing a website mockup, creating a user persona, or developing that perfect email advertisement, I’ll work with a client to create a product that is ready for the next step.
After graduating, I began work for a small start-up, Btied. I worked as a UX/UI designer and tester for the website's conceptual layouts and design. As start-ups are often unstable, I took a break to work as an assistant for a special needs student for Fort Wayne Community Schools. Just like my degrees, both experiences are quite different, but, they were both learning experiences in patience and thoughtful creativity. Each position required a different pace everyday, a different solution to sometimes similar problems from the day before. I’m proud of being a part of Btied; I’m even more proud that I helped a student improve their grades and grow as a person. It was rarely easy and often made me want to chuck something out a window, but so are most things that are worth doing.
I currently call Fort Wayne, IN, home. When I’m not working with a client, I enjoy long walks around town, Marvel comics, JRPGs, and drawing doodles of things. While I’m quite nifty with the more technical tools of the trade, my favorite tools are the humble but mighty (and cheap) Precise V5 rolling ball extra fine pen and college ruled notebook paper.
